  13. Why should I study with Butler Piano Associates rather than any other private teacher, organization or institution?

It really depends on the ability of the child to concentrate, focus and take direction. Very young children may discover that waiting a little more time would benefit them more. At one time we thought the older you were, the more limited your opportunities, but if a person has all their faculties, nothing is limited. Butler Piano Associates has dealt with children as young as three years of age and as old as seventy-six.
Butler Piano Associates deals with all the required skills of a pianist in each and every lesson, from beginner to artist level. This requires organization and time and is why we advocate hourly lessons. Occasionally, special circumstances may require exceptional adjustments and these will be dealt with individually.
The fiscal year for Butler Piano Associates is September 1 through August 31. Weekly, hourly lessons are given throughout the year with periods of study largely determined by the exam periods set by the national conservatories of music. These examinations are usually scheduled for January, June and August and many students plan their applied study accordingly. The more set periods would be September through the end of June but more and more students are choosing August for their exams and are studying extensively throughout the year.
Whether a student is preparing for an exam, festival or competition, Butler Piano Associates has a curriculum for each and every student, specifically designed to address his/her pianistic needs and concerns. To achieve the goals and learning outcomes set by the individual curricula, all lessons must be attended and/or made up at times mutually convenient to the teacher and student. Regular lessons keep students on track and motivated.
This varies with the level and ability of the students, the designed curriculum and the learning outcomes set by the student and teacher. Butler Piano Associates will teach your child how to practice, the organization and time-management skills required to achieve his/her goals.
Butler Piano Associates are classically trained pianists and though they all appreciate various styles of music, teach traditional, classical piano.
There are many daily routines that we have to do and simply do because we appreciate their worth. While many technical exercises can be imaginatively communicated, there are many that are repetitive and monotonous that must, however, be done. Butler Piano Associates are very creative in helping students through this common obstacle.
Dr. Butler is very caring and supportive as can be seen in many of the student testimonials. A good teacher requires students to address their weaknesses and this can be frustrating and emotionally draining. Serious piano study is an unrelenting pursuit of personal excellence and if the goals are to be realized, the journey is not always easy. As you read the student testimonials, you will experience the gratitude of many who have traversed this path and will appreciate just a few of the qualities that qualify Dr. Butler as a master teacher.

The study of piano is a long-term investment for all concerned. Every step of the road is based upon the interaction of the student and teacher. Each student is different and requires, always, a slightly different approach. Given the individualized requirements of each and every student, Butler Piano Associates cannot offer any discounts in registration or lessons fees. The rates of Butler Piano Associates are, for the quality of instruction received, extremely competitive and will satisfy any discriminating scrutiny.
A number of learning disabilities do not interfere with a child's enjoyment and study of piano. However, a thorough assessment is required and real care given in the matching of teacher and student. Butler Piano Associates has dealt very successfully with a number of learning disabled students.
Butler Piano Associates offers your child a specifically designed piano curriculum with learning outcomes regulated through master classes. The diversity of our faculty, our united philosophy in the teaching of piano performance through comprehensive musicianship and our emphasis on learning outcomes and accountability through master classes separates us from most individual instructors. Very few institutions can boast that all faculty share the same philosophy in teaching and performance and will strive to communicate this in each and every lesson in a detailed and organized fashion.
